NEW PUBLICATIONS





The Brochure "Grafting Our Future onto our Roots" was published in the frame of the project Grafting Our Future onto the Old Roots: A Community-based in-situ conservation of traditional fruit tree varieties and the associated traditional agricultural landscape in the Region of Ohrid and the Prespa Lakes (Albania, Greece, and Macedonia). The brochure is in Macedonian with a summaries in English and Albanian (600 copies, 24 pages-full colour; 18 figures, one table, one map).  





In the frame of the Project Establishing Financial Mechanisms for Conserving Biodiversity in The Balkan Region:  Sustainable Development Through Eco Tourism and Environmental Education in Protected Areas, ALLCOOP and the project partners from Bulgaria, Serbia and Albania published a manual for teachers and catalogue of "environmental education games" for school children: Play and Learn from Nature. You can download this Brochure here (only in Macedonian).

November 20-22, 2003: Ňhe Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe,  organized the regional conference "Forum on Biodiversity and Tourism in South Eastern Europe, held in Sofija, Bulgarija. At the conference Oliver Avramoski and Jovanco Sekuloski presented a paper on the experience in developing ecotourism in the Galicica National Park. More ...

November 18, 2003: In the frame of the project Grafting Our Future Onto the Old Roots, ALLCOOP organizes the second presentation of some traditional varieties of apples and pears from the village of Zavoj (the Ohrid Region) in the town of Resen (the Prespa Region), in the front of the City House. November 15-16, 2003: Meeting of project partners in Ohrid.
Representatives of the NGOs Children of the Earth from Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, the Association for Education Improvement from Belgrade, Serbia and Monte Negro, the Association Tourism and Environment from Pogradec, Albania, and ALLCOOP met in Ohrid on November 15-16 to discuss and agree upon the final design of the Marketable Environmental Education Programs developed in the frame of the project Establishing Financial Mechanisms for Conserving Biodiversity in The Balkan Region:  Sustainable Development Through Eco Tourism and Environmental Education in Protected Areas. Also, at the meeting, the partner organizations discussed on a range of follow up activities, including development of a project proposal that would build upon the outcomes of the concurrent projects in the four pilot areas in field of eco-tourism and environmental education in the local protected areas. November 8, 2003:
In the frame of the project Grafting Our Future Onto the Old Roots, on November 8, 2003, from 11-14,  some of the traditional varieties of fruits and products made of them from the village of Zavoj - Ohrid area, were presented on the plateau of the trade center "Letnica". More ...

November 2003:
The Swiss State Secretariat For Economic Affairs in co-operation with Republic of Macedonia, Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, Republic of Albania, Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works of the Hellenic Republic, on November 3-4, in Hotel Granit, in Ohrid, organized the International Lake Ohrid Conference. At the plenary session of the conference Mr. Avramoski presented the paper: Cooperation in Transboundary Environmental Management in the Region of Lake Ohrid and Prespa Lakes. The paper contains and overview of the main developments, achievements and lessons learned in transboundary cooperation in the region since 1995 with a special focus on the Lake Ohrid Conservation Project. October 2003:
In the frame of the project Establishing Financial Mechanisms for Conserving Biodiversity in The Balkan Region:  Sustainable Development Through Eco Tourism and Environmental Education in Protected Areas, ALLCOOP in cooperation with the elementary school "Vanco Nikoleski" from Leskoec,  organized a field testing of selected Environmental Education Products developed by ALLCOOP and other  partner NGOs of the project from Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia. More than 80 students from the 3rd and 4th grade of this school and 4 teachers/instructors, at the recreational center at Screbatno, used 15 different environmental education packages, containing mostly plays and games, to learn  more about and understand of the natural values of the Petrino Mountain and the neighbouring Galicica National Park.

September - October 2003: In the frame of the project: GRAFTING OUR FUTURE ONTO THE OLD ROOTS: Community-based in-situ conservation of traditional fruit tree varieties and the associated traditional agricultural landscape in the Region of Ohrid and the Prespa Lakes (Albania, Greece, and Macedonia), the activities in September and October were mainly focused on restoration of an old orchard of traditional fruit tree varieties (in Leskoec, Prespa), and establishment of new orchards of traditional fruit tree varieties (Zavoj, Leskoec, Ohrid) that were identified in the previous period of implementation of the project. More ...
