November: In the frame of the project Grafting Our Future Onto the Old Roots, on September 8, 2003, from 11-14,  some of the traditional varieties of fruits and products made of them from the village of Zavoj - Ohrid area, were presented on the plateau of the trade center "Letnica". More ...

November:
The Swiss State Secretariat For Economic Affairs in co-operation with Republic of Macedonia, Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, Republic of Albania, Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works of the Hellenic Republic, on November 3-4, in Hotel Granit, in Ohrid, organized the International Lake Ohrid Conference. At the plenary session of the conference Mr. Avramoski presented the paper: Cooperation in Transboundary Environmental Management in the Region of Lake Ohrid and Prespa Lakes. The paper contains and overview of the main developments, achievements and lessons learned in transboundary cooperation in the region since 1995 with a special focus on the Lake Ohrid Conservation Project. October:
In the frame of the project Establishing Financial Mechanisms For Conserving Biodiversity In The Balkan Region:  Sustainable Development Through Eco Tourism And Environmental Education In Protected Areas, ALLCOOP in cooperation with the elementary school "Vanco Nikoleski" from Leskoec,  organized a field testing of selected Environmental Education Products developed by ALLCOOP and other  partner NGOs of the project from Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia. More than 80 students from the 3rd and 4th grade of this school and 4 teachers/instructors, at the recreational center at Screbatno, used 15 different environmental education packages, containing mostly plays and games, to learn  more about and understand of the natural values of the Petrino Mountain and the neighbouring Galicica National Park.

September - October: In the frame of the project: GRAFTING OUR FUTURE ONTO THE OLD ROOTS: Community-based in-situ conservation of traditional fruit tree varieties and the associated traditional agricultural landscape in the Region of Ohrid and the Prespa Lakes (Albania, Greece, and Macedonia), the activities in September and October were mainly focused on restoration of an old orchard of traditional fruit tree varieties (in Leskoec, Prespa), and establishment of new orchards of traditional fruit tree varieties (Zavoj, Leskoec, Ohrid) that were identified in the previous period of implementation of the project.


2002

November 2002:
In the frame of the project Save Cherava River: Development of Cherava River Catchment Management Plan (More ...), on 24th of November in Pogradec, Albania, the Core Group of the Cherava River Basin Council (CRBC) hold its first meeting. The meeting was organized and coveyed by the expert teams of ALLCOOP and Tourism and Envrionment. The main issues discussed at the meeting included the composition and organisational structure of the CRBC as well as the possible short-term projects to be implemented immediately after its establishment scheduled for the beginning of 2003. At the meeting the members of the Core Group greed to jointly prepare a project proposal for promotion of the transboundary cooperation in the Cherava River catchment area. In addition they agreed to prepare a project proposal for a community-based action in the field of environment to include short-term measures to be implemented independently by the local communities in the catchment in Albania and Macedonia. The initial ideas of the members of the CRBC, both from Albania and Macedonia focused on cleaning of the solid waste from the Cherava River bed and restauration of the forest strips along the river banks. The project proposals, with a help from the experts at ALLCOOP and Tourism and Envrionment will be eventually amended and submitted to the potential donors for financing.

November 2002:
In the frame of the project Save Cherava River: Development of Cherava River Catchment Management Plan (More ...), on 1st and 2nd November a two-day field trip in the Cherava River catchment area was organized for a group consisted of twelve members, including experts from Albania, Estonia, Macedonia and the Central European university in Budapest, Hungary, the Mayor of the Cherava Commune in Albania, the Presidentof the Council of the Village of Stropcka as well as the experts from ALLCOOP and Tourism and Envrionment. The group visited several places in the Cherava River Catchment to gain closer insight in the environmental problems in the catchment and had disscussions with the official representatives of the local communities and the people of several settlements (Darthdas, Stropcka, Cerava, Ljumas, Peshkopia, Ljubanishta).    

October 2002:
In the frame of the project Save Cherava River: Development of Cherava River Catchment Management Plan (More ...), representatives of the local communities and regional authorities as well as the teams of experts from ALLCOOP and Tourism and Envrionment hold the first working meetingon October 19th, in Hotel Chingo, Ohrid. A the meeting the participants established the Core Group of the Cherava River Basin Council and agreed on the final objectives and activities of the project. 

August 2002:
The Open Society Institute awarded an international project entitled Save Transboundary Cherava River: Development of Cherava River Basin Management Plan to be implemented by a consortium of four NGOs: ALLCOOP, Albania; ALLCOOP, Macedonia; CTC, Estonia; and Tourism and Environment, Albania. The total budget of the project is app. 14,000 USD and will be implemented in two phases, starting from September 2002 through September 2003. More ...  

August 2002:
The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) will finance a project aiming at promotion of ecotourism in protected areas in Albania, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania. The project Establishing Financial Mechanisms For Conserving Biodiversity In The Balkan Region:  Sustainable Development Through Eco Tourism And Environmental Education In Protected Areas will focus on the following protected area in the Balkans: Galicica National Park, Macedonia; Prespa National Park, Albania; Rila National Park, Bulgaria; Stara Planina Nature Park, Serbia (FR Yugoslavia). Children of the Earth, from Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria is the lead NGO and, besides ALLCOOP, there are 5 more NGO partners in this project. The total budget of the project is 38,388 USD, 34,854 USD of which are provided from REC. The project starts this September and will end in September 2003.
